Dr. Allison's Message

The 2018-19 school year passed quickly with many educational experiences and activities for our students. In addition to their regular schedules to meet State requirements, we have expanded our environment with a variety of electives including a popular science elective, introduction to law class, robotics, coding, chorus, drama, guitar, and art. On our field trips students have visited the Everglades Holiday Park, attended a classical performance of the Nutcracker, the South Beach Escape Room, and the beach for a beach cleanup and cookout. Students ventured to Key West for a few days last spring, and then this winter experienced a snow trip to Great Wolf Lodge in North Carolina. We have had guest speakers on a variety of subjects as well as college and university representatives. Our foreign travel last year was a European excursion, and this spring a trip to Japan.

We are proud of our students’ accomplishments in competitions that reach outside our school environment including our eighth grade students who won the first three places in an essay competition competing with 120 students from other schools, and our art students who won the first three places in a City water conservation poster contest. Our science students have been actively involved in the Fairchild Botanical Gardens Challenge working on experiments with growing food for space travel. We are also proud of our student athletes who participated in basketball and volleyball, as well as our musicians in the rock/jazz band. A group of student leaders who are active in student government are responsible for our successful school socials and yearbook, and have done an amazing job this year.

The Allison Academy program with our exceptional curriculum and a myriad of activities would not be possible without our highly professional and dedicated staff and our valued parental support. I am extremely proud of all of our school family of exceptional teachers who come to school each day committed to work positively with every student, and of our students, each one a valued member of this family!
