Allison Academy Annoucement on COVID-19 Plan of Action

SUMMER SCHOOL 2020 – LIMITED ENROLLMENT- RESERVE SPOT TODAY!

Online Classes Update

July 29, 2020

Students, Parents, and Teachers,

The summer is almost over, and it is time to think about the new school year, whether in class in the building or at home with virtual online live classes. We are most happy that we are able to provide a hybrid program so that all of our students can continue their education and academic progress toward high school graduation. At this time the majority of students are planning to return to their classrooms. Students at home will login in to the WebEx classroom of each teacher and follow their regular daily schedule from home.

We are finalizing schedules and will have the schedules ready by August 10. Students will be able to come to school to pick up their schedules, or we can email them, and select lockers on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 11 & 12.

We have been preparing the building with mounted non-touch hand sanitizers in all classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas. We will regularly sanitize the building with our new Electrostatic Disinfectant Sprayer, and teachers will wipe down all desks, computers, and other touched surfaces after every class. Students MUST wear masks all day everyday in the building and on the bus for PE. It is important for students to understand that this is their way of stopping the spread of the virus and keeping our school safe. Everyone will need to bring their own refillable water bottle and we encourage everyone to bring their lunch from home, as we will not be able to serve pizza or any food that is not pre-packaged. We have cleared out some of the furniture in classrooms to make room for social distancing, and will split the larger classes.

When reaching the entrance, everyone will have their temperature checked with a non-touch thermometer. If a student has a fever, they will be sent home.

Any student who is exposed to a person who has the virus must stay home and self quarantine. That student will immediately transition to the live online classes and move through their regular daily schedule of classes. We will provide the teachers’ WebEx classroom numbers to all students when the schedules are given out.

The CDC Guidelines have made some changes over the last five months, but state that students should return to schools when all possible safety measures are in place. It is important for students socially and emotionally to be in an environment where they are able to interact with their peer group, so we are committed to make that opportunity available.

Our top priority is the health and safety of our students and staff. We are ready to begin on August 13! Please call if you have questions, and enjoy the last few days of summer break! I am still missing all of you and can’t wait to have the normal sounds and actions of our students!

Warm regards to all,

Dr. Allison

Why Allison Academy?

Our mission at Allison Academy is to inspire our diverse community of students. It is our goal to promote moral, intellectual, physical, and academic excellence so that each student may rise to honorable achievements, and contribute to the common good.

Allison Academy evolved from a Reading/Math Learning Center, to an accredited private institution, in response to parents’ demands for a private, nurturing, school environment for their children.

The Academy accepted its first students in 1983, and was organized to provide a highly specialized program for each individual. Over the years, the enrollment has grown, and in 1994, a decision to enlarge the school and increase enrollment was made.

Today, Allison Academy (named by its first students), is a private, accredited, non-sectarian secondary (grades 6 – 12) school located in North Miami Beach, Florida.
