Allison Academy Annoucement on COVID-19 Plan of Action

Allison Academy Eighth Week of Classes

As we begin October 2020 and mark the completion of eight weeks with our hybrid program of live in-person and virtual classes, we are happy to report that our school is running smoothly as we consistently follow all safety protocols.  In fact, the masks, temperature checks, hand sanitizing, disinfecting spraying, and alcohol cleaning of computers and desks, hall lanes, and social distancing are now habits which are done automatically. Our students and staff have been amazing in their consistent efforts to keep everyone healthy and safe!

Student Activity Updates:  Students are happy to be able to utilize the City playing fields and ride in our bus Sunshine to PE. They have begun their campaigns for Student Government officers and are putting up posters and preparing campaign speeches.  Ninth grade students are completing their rocket building projects and their space research for their rocket launch event within the next week.  Our high school science students will have the opportunity to participate in the Fairchild Botanical Gardens project in coordination with the NASA project of growing plants for food in space, “Growing Beyond Earth”.  This is a project that requires commitment and diligence as the research must be accurately recorded and sent to the Gardens and NASA.  If your student is selected for participation in this project, please offer encouragement and support for this outstanding honor.

Mr. Gilfoy will be beginning his physical fitness club next Wednesday, October 7 for any students who would like to “get in shape”!   Interested students should speak with Mr. G.  Art club is enjoyed every week and students involved in Student Government and Senior Meeting also meet weekly.

Students will be administered the Standardized ED Series Scholastic Testing Service Achievement Tests, a requirement for accreditation, next week the ninth week of school.  The following week the eleventh grade students are preparing for the PSAT exams on October 15, and the twelfth graders will take the SAT School Day Exam here at the same time.

As you can tell, Allison Academy students are involved and busy with a variety of activities in addition to their regular schedules of required courses and electives.  We are very proud of this fine group of students and their accomplishments.

Please be vigilant and observe all protocol for maintaining a safe and healthy environment!  Don’t forget your masks, wash your hands frequently, maintain social distance, and refrain from touching your face!!

Warm regards

Dr. Allison

Why Allison Academy?

Our mission at Allison Academy is to inspire our diverse community of students. It is our goal to promote moral, intellectual, physical, and academic excellence so that each student may rise to honorable achievements, and contribute to the common good.

Allison Academy evolved from a Reading/Math Learning Center, to an accredited private institution, in response to parents’ demands for a private, nurturing, school environment for their children.

The Academy accepted its first students in 1983, and was organized to provide a highly specialized program for each individual. Over the years, the enrollment has grown, and in 1994, a decision to enlarge the school and increase enrollment was made.

Today, Allison Academy (named by its first students), is a private, accredited, non-sectarian secondary (grades 6 – 12) school located in North Miami Beach, Florida.
