The spirit of celebration took Allison Academy this past week!
Allison Academy school Spirit Week was a great success and a fun opportunity for all Allison students to participate in the celebration of the school spirit, by dressing up in different themes daily and enjoying snacks and afternoon activities!
The students in the Student Council showed their peers how capable they are of providing incredible fun in the unique spirit of Allison. Under the guidance of Mrs. Horowitz and Ms. Francois, they led school activities for the whole week.
A week of creativity and unity
Spirit Weeks are always an occasion for students to practice and show off their creativity, by representing school unity and spirit in special ways!
This year at Allison, our students have participated in some very fun activities that gave everyone at school a sense of pride and togetherness, proving to everyone who participated in the celebration that Allison Academy makes learning incredibly fun by creating occasions for students to express themselves!
The first day of Spirit Week, if you happened to pass through Allison hallways, you could see students in slippers and pajamas. At Allison, PJ day is a traditional way to kick off Spirit Week, so our students casually hung out in their sleepwear, having had a quirky and fun day at the end of it. Many of them were seen in matching onesies and eccentric colors, which was a sure way to show everyone that PJs do make a difference!
Twin day was the second theme of the week, so the students came to school in matching outfits! There were not only twins that day – there were triplets and even quadruplets!
Then the Allison spirit was channeled by wearing favorite jerseys, imbuing this unordinary school with a sporty flair and even more color than usual! While students rocked their favorite jerseys through the hallways, the members of the Council handed out doughnuts to their peers. Themes continued until Friday, when we had a most successful Field Day, in which students participated in games and sports, showing their athletic and competitive side, with the support of Mr. Vargas, who led a most delicious barbecue enjoyed by all!
The Spirit Week contributed as an introduction to Halloween spirit that followed through the weekend!
It was a great week for achievements too!
The festivities have also created a positive impact on our students’ academic performance, and they have also made some great achievements!
During this week, several seniors and juniors participated in the SAT School Day, using the opportunity to take the official SAT test while in the school atmosphere. They had been studying hard and preparing for this college entrance exam, and they are now eagerly awaiting their results. Our senior students are actively working on their college applications, while our junior classes have started researching potential schools and entrance requirements.
Finally, as we reached the culmination of the first nine weeks, we are proud of our dedicated and high-achieving students who have made the Honor Roll. The students in the A/B Honor Roll have an A/B academic average for all of their courses, while the students in the A Honor Roll have the highest achievements of maintaining an A average in all their classes. There are 29 students who made the A/B Honor Roll, and 17 students on the A Honor Roll! The students will be enjoying their special Honor Roll Breakfast as an incentive for their efforts. Congratulations!
