The 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony was held in the Allison Academy cafetorium with Mr. Tom Gilfoy opening the ceremony. Later in the program, Mr. Walter Milner, spoke to the middle school graduates providing the students with words of advice, support, and congratulating them on their achievements. As a teacher, his task is to be both a mentor and a friend at the same time, and judging by how many positive feelings were shared between him and the students, we can conclude that he succeeded at that.
Middle school is truly one of the most important times in life
Mr. Milner thanked all the parents for their trust and cooperation, inviting students to thank them later too for giving them the opportunity to be part of Allison Academy.
He also thanked students and teachers for their hard work and great results, summed up the past year, wished them a nice holiday and encouraged them to take on new challenges when the school year begins.
“Certainly you have had good times and plenty of good laughs. But also, it has been a time of searching for your identity. You have all made it through and you have grown in many more ways than height. Now you are at a transitional place where new perspectives and achievements can be formed. You will go away for the summer and come back a different person- “high-schooler.” While we all learn about the major breakthroughs and discoveries in history, it is mostly small things that change the world. Maybe someone here will be written into history, but all of you here can do the real work, the humble things like to be kind to others. As wonderful as technology can be and we will all have to become experts in it, this summer put the screen down a bit, go outside, spend time with family, read a book, meet new friends and be alive for real. You are a bright, capable generation and we are all looking forward to the future you will bring” Mr. Milner said.
