As we get closer to the end of the school year, we continue to drive students’ academic achievements and progress.
The time has come to gradually start seriously thinking about college entrance exams and there is no better way to get into the mindset than to practice, study, and take preliminary exams as preparation for standardized tests!
This week, our students took pride in taking the PSAT. The test is designed to help high school sophomores and juniors prepare for the SAT tests, which will take place later on in their academic careers. The PSAT can also determine a student’s aptitude for other national tests and give insight into which areas to focus on while you’re studying.
Why is taking the PSAT important?
Students in 10th grade took the practice (preliminary) SAT (PSAT) in preparation for their official test in 11th or 12th grade. The results of this exam will allow students to prepare for and study areas that need improvement. Similarly, students got to experience the practice exam as a simulation of the real test and familiarized themselves with the procedures and expectations of the SAT college entrance exam.
An interesting fact is that “PSAT” doesn’t actually stand for “pre-SAT.” As a matter of fact, it stands for “Preliminary Scholarship Aptitude Test”, which in fact illustrates the purpose of those examinations, which is to offer students an opportunity to identify the strong points and weaknesses of their knowledge, identify their own shortcomings, and work on improving so as to achieve the best possible results when they take the SAT exams in the future.
