December 4, 2020 – Happy December to the Allison Academy students, parents, staff, and friends! In two weeks we will have our annual holiday two weeks break for Christmas and Hanukkah, and will return to our regular schedule on January 4, 2021. Our wishes and hopes are for a safe and healthy COVID free holiday for everyone.
It is with awe and amazement that I reflect on this end of the 16th week of school and the fact that we have maintained our safe and COVID free environment. Thank all of you for following the strict protocols to insure the health and safety of our school population. I know that we must be diligent and not become complacent until the vaccine is distributed to everyone, which we hopefully anticipate will be completed by late spring.
Our academics and extra-curricular projects are growing with the addition of the Environmental Club and Science Research Club sponsored by Mr. Gilfoy; the Student Government sponsored by Mrs. Fernandez, which held the Thanksgiving food drive for those in need, and now has initiated the Christmas holiday toy drive for children in our Miami neighborhood. These students who meet weekly have decorated our school for the holidays.
Students are also busy acquiring community service hours to meet the 74 hour requirement by the State of Florida. Our art classes under Mrs. Milner have added new art to decorate the walls of the school, and the Social Group is planning another video game day on Friday sponsored by Mr. Vargas and Mr. Milner. The boys’ basketball team is continuing their physical conditioning and practicing skills needed for play when we are able to resume our competition in the Independent Sports League- after COVID. So, you can see that Allison Academy students are busy and involved!
Stay safe and maintain the protocols for a healthy holiday season! We are looking forward to a productive 2021!
Warm regards
Dr. Allison
